Spaces to Places

With the Spaces to Places program, students become mapmakers while exploring environmental issues in their own neighborhoods. The Minnesota Interactive Internet Mapping (MIIM) website, developed by the University of Minnesota, is available to Eco Education teachers to use in conjunction with the City Connections curriculum. Students learn how to use state of the art technology to map their neighborhoods using basic GIS (geographic information systems) to plot points, including the many environmental (natural, built, and social) issues that they find important to their community.  Try MIIM.
